SPEAKER GUIDELINES

HOPEWELL ROTARY CLUB

Thank you for agreeing to speak to the Hopewell Rotary Club.

The club meets on Tuesdays from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion in downtown Hopewell.

The following are some guidelines for your presentation:

-          Please plan on a 15-20 minute talk with some time for Q&A at the end.

-          It is important that the microphone be used consistently throughout the presentation.

-          We ask that once questions are asked by the members, that the question be repeated by the speaker so that all in attendance may be aware of the question.

-          If you will have equipment needs, please inform the club member who arranged your program.

-          Please provide the club member who arranged your program with a brief bio as this information will be used for your introduction.

-          Please plan to arrive between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m.  (This is applicable to both the Rotarian for which you are a guest as well as you, the speaker).  This will provide time for you to check out the room and any equipment you may be using and to eat lunch as a guest of the club.  We ask that you sign in when you arrive.

-          Your introduction and program will begin at approximately 12:25 to 12:35 p.m., following the Pledge of Allegiance, an invocation, and club announcements.

-          While giving your program, please keep in mind that the meeting must end promptly at 1:00 p.m.  However, it is common for some club members to remain after the meeting if they have additional questions for the speaker.

In addition, we ask that our speakers refrain from the following:

-          Marketing one’s own business or sales talks

-          Direct solicitation for a charity, cause, or project unless specifically addressed with the President prior to the presentation

-          Personal political or religious messages

-          Using the Rotary platform to dispense individual financial advice
